Ai Smoke marked a genuine change in how Callaway designed driver faces. Instead of optimising for a single perfect centre strike, the company collected real impact data from a very large sample of golfers and used machine learning to build a face with micro-deflections mapped to where those players actually hit the ball. Callaway called it Ai Smart Face, and the point is consistency rather than peak speed.

The Max is the neutral, most widely fitting head in the family, with a 460cc footprint, a forgiving weighting layout and enough stability to handle a less than perfect strike without punishing you for it. A carbon crown and sole free up weight to be positioned low and back, and the Optifit hosel handles loft and lie adjustment. At 9 degrees in stiff, this is a spec for a player with decent speed who wants control alongside distance.
