The L.A.B. putter that started a movement. The DF3 is the Directed Force concept refined into a shape golfers actually want to look at — same self-squaring behaviour, same irrational forgiveness on mishits, but with a cleaner, more conventional silhouette that lets you focus on the line rather than the look of your putter.
When L.A.B. launched their first putter, the original Directed Force, players were astonished by how it performed but couldn't quite get past how it looked. The single most common piece of feedback was simple: could you make it less weird? The DF3 is the answer. All the same physics, all the same self-correcting behaviour, all the same forgiveness — but in a head shape that sits behind the ball without drawing a crowd. Less to think about, more strokes made.
Like every L.A.B. putter, the DF3 is built around Lie Angle Balance — the patented technology that keeps the face square to the path through the entire stroke. No matter how the putter is specced for length, lie, head weight, shaft or grip, the physics hold. The face doesn't torque open on the way back or shut on the way through. You're free to stop fighting your putter and start making strokes.
The DF3 is 100% CNC milled from a solid block of 6061 aluminium and finished in a hard-wearing Type-3 anodised coating. Eight screws on the sole allow L.A.B. to offer one of the widest ranges of length and lie angle options on the market, so the putter can be built to fit your stroke rather than the other way around. Every head is built and balanced by L.A.B. Golf craftsmen at their factory just outside Eugene, Oregon. No outsourcing, no shortcuts — just one of the most thoroughly engineered putters you can put in a bag.
The most important aspect of every L.A.B. Golf putter is determining the optimal lie angle for your stroke. If you already own a L.A.B. putter and you're happy with the fit, you can simply order your DF3 to the same specifications. If this is your first L.A.B., the configurator will walk you through every option — length, lie, head weight, shaft and grip — and every build comes out Lie Angle Balanced to your exact setup.
The DF3 is available with a wide range of L.A.B. grips. The Press Pistol 2° is one of our favourites for standard-length builds, but every grip in the range is fully compatible. Choose a 3° grip if you prefer something larger in the hands, or a 1.5° grip if you like something smaller. All L.A.B. grips are designed to work with the putter's 0°-lean geometry without compromising the Lie Angle Balance.
The DF3 is for the player who wants every advantage L.A.B. technology offers without the conversation-piece looks of the original Directed Force. If you've heard the stories about L.A.B. putters and you're ready to find out what self-squaring really feels like, this is the model to start with.
