Every L.A.B. mallet to date has been centre-shafted. It's part of the brand's DNA. But for a significant group of players, a heel-shafted putter is non-negotiable — it's what their eye is trained on, it's what they trust at address. The OZ.1i HS is L.A.B.'s answer. It takes every piece of balancing technology that makes a L.A.B. putter behave the way it does, and packages it in the heel-shafted setup traditionalists prefer. A mid-mallet profile any golfer can get behind, with none of the tech compromised.

Modernised Head Design

The OZ.1i HS stays true to the OZ.1 family but reimagines the flange and cavity to make the heel-shafted layout possible. The result is a clean mid-mallet shape that frames the ball confidently at address without looking experimental. Solid-body construction — no large holes, no fangs — gives the OZ.1i HS the most "normal" sound and feel of any L.A.B. mallet, while preserving the off-centre forgiveness the brand's mallets are famous for.

Built Around Lie Angle Balance

Like every L.A.B. putter, the OZ.1i HS is 100% Lie Angle Balanced. The patented technology keeps the face square to the path through the entire stroke, regardless of how the putter is built — length, lie, head weight, shaft, grip, the physics still hold. The face doesn't torque open going back or shut coming through. You stop fighting the putter and start making strokes.

Stainless Steel Insert

Before the OZ.1i, every L.A.B. putter had an all-aluminium face — producing the soft, muted feel L.A.B. became known for. The OZ.1i changed that with a 303 stainless steel face insert, giving players a firmer feel at impact and faster ball speeds off the face. The HS model carries this insert across. In terms of size and shape it's identical to the insertless OZ.1, but the feel and sound at impact are noticeably crisper. Design Inspiration

The OZ.1 design process started over a pint with Adam Scott, who offered two important pieces of feedback. Adam has a fondness for the back end of a certain high-performance German sports car, and that's where the rear of the putter took its cues. For the front, he asked L.A.B. to reimagine one of the most famous mallet putters of all time. The first prototype interpreted both quite literally. Adam liked the direction, but encouraged L.A.B.'s engineers to be more creative with the brief. Many prototypes and conversations later, the OZ.1 was born — and the heel-shafted OZ.1i HS is the latest evolution of that collaboration.

Shaft Lean Options

The OZ.1i HS is available with either 0° or 2° of shaft lean. The 2° option stays true to L.A.B.'s heritage and pairs with the L.A.B. Press Grip — the brand's signature setup. The 0° option is designed for players who prefer to see a vertical shaft at address and want to use a standard grip on a L.A.B. mallet. Players choosing 0° should not use a Press Grip; players choosing 2° should pair with one.
