The G430 Max is the highest MOI driver Ping has built, and it earned its reputation honestly. A 22 gram tungsten back weight sits at the rear of the head, pushing the centre of gravity as deep as the rules sensibly allow. That makes the face extremely resistant to twisting on off-centre strikes, so the difference between your best drive and your average one shrinks considerably.

The face uses a variable roll radius and a thinner, faster construction than the G425, and Ping also worked hard on the sound, adding internal ribbing to give the head a noticeably more solid, muted note at impact. The Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel offers eight settings, adjusting loft by plus or minus 1.5 degrees. At 12 degrees in regular flex, this is set up for a moderate swing speed that needs help with carry.
