The 7 wood has gone from an oddity to a staple, and the G440 Max is one of the best examples of why. It launches higher and lands steeper than any long iron or hybrid at the same loft, which means it actually holds greens from 180 yards rather than skipping through the back. Tour players have worked this out, and club golfers are catching up fast.

Ping's Free Hosel Technology removes weight from the hosel and reinvests it in the head, allowing a face four percent taller than the previous generation without raising the centre of gravity. A CarbonFly Wrap crown pushes more mass low and to the perimeter, adding forgiveness and giving the club a noticeably muted impact sound. The Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel adjusts loft by plus or minus 1.5 degrees and lie up to three degrees flatter.
