**LEFT HANDED**

The mini driver has quietly become one of the most useful clubs in golf, and TaylorMade's R7 Quad revival is the one that started the current wave. The head sits at around 300cc, noticeably smaller than a driver but considerably bigger than a 3 wood, and it is built on a shorter shaft. That combination trades a little raw distance for a big gain in accuracy off the tee.

It carries the movable weight system that made the original R7 famous, with weights that can be repositioned to bias the head toward draw or fade and to move the centre of gravity forward or back. There is a Speed Pocket in the sole to protect ball speed on low strikes, which matters because a mini driver spends time on the deck as well as on a tee. For a player who is not confident with a full driver, or who wants a weapon for tight par fours, this fills the gap perfectly.
